Welcome to the Seax-Wica Tradition
At Meomerswiell Seax Coven of Lima, Peru, we warmly invite you to step into a path that unites devotion, ancestral wisdom, and the living practice of the Old Religion.
Our work is inspired by the profound exchange between Raymond Buckland and Juan Espinoza (Rasgæl Hræfenwulf) from 2011 to 2017—a dialogue that breathed life into Buckland’s vision of a Seax-Wica College, and into Juan Espinoza’s two decades of service within Seax-Wica and other mystical traditions.
Seax-Wica was created by Buckland not to reconstruct the historical Saxon religion, but to honor the Saxon Gods in a modern spiritual framework, integrating magic as a tool of devotion and self-discovery rather than its central aim. Here, you will find a sacred space to connect with Wōden, Þunor, Frīg, Tiw, and the other deities of our pantheon—alongside the ancestral spirits who walk with us—without the need to abandon other magical or spiritual practices.
We recognize that each Gesith (companion on the path) is autonomous, just as each coven shapes its own unique expression of the tradition. Yet, through this platform, we offer common ground: a place to learn, celebrate, and share the wisdom of our gods. Whether you walk with a coven or as a solitary practitioner, our guidance, rites, and teachings are open to you.
In 2017, with Buckland’s blessing, our coven introduced the Seax-Treów status—Believers of the Saxon Gods—within the Theows category. This allows seekers to join in our worship without initiation, participate in rites, and connect with the symbols and mysteries of our tradition in a way that deepens spiritual harmony and honors the divine.
Our work also embraces the wider Indo-European mythic heritage, recognizing the deep kinship between Germanic, Celtic, and Slavic traditions. Like the Ásatrú, Vanatrú, or Þursatrú, we see our practice as a re-interpretation and sacred adaptation, weaving together preserved lore and revealed insight to form a coherent living path.
Whether you are here to study the runes, explore practices like galdra, hwata, or lūcnunga, or simply to honor the Saxon gods in your own way, you are welcome. In Lima or across the seas, you are part of a community of those who remember—and keep weaving the wyrd.
Honor them as Seax-Treow
Seax-Wica was founded by Raymond Buckland with the aim of preparing individuals for priesthood, honoring the Saxon Gods without seeking to revive the original Saxon religion of the United Kingdom or to recreate its historical culture.
Instead, its devotional work serves as a formative path for magical practice—where magic itself takes a secondary role. Many people are drawn to the devotional experience without wishing to fully commit to the religious-magical process that Buckland outlines in his classic works:

In July 2017, Buckland approved a proposal from the Meomerswiell Seax Coven in Lima, Peru, to create a new status within the Theows category called Seax-Treów, or Believers of the Saxon Gods.
This status allows individuals to:
Participate without the need for initiation
Benefit from rituals performed by Initiates
Practice simple rites independently
Connect with the rich history and symbolism of the Saxon tradition
Through Seax-Treów, the path offers accessible ways to deepen spiritual connection, cultivate peace and harmony with the Saxon Gods, and embrace the Seax Tradition in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

The Aims of Seax-Wica
"(i) To worship the God and Goddess of the Old Religion, whether as part of a group (Coven) or as an individual. (ii) To aid others in learning of that worship. (iii) To combat the untruths and straighten the misconceptions of the Craft held by many outsiders. (iv) To work for harmony among the different traditions of the Craft. (v) To work for a happier relationship between Man/Woman and other aspects of Nature (for we are all a part of Nature). (vi) To help members progress and improve themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually."
