A Seax-Wica retreat to the mystical Markawasi Plateau in Lima, Peru, led by Juan Manuel Espinoza Guzmán, will be an immersive and transformative journey, combining Saxon rituals with the mystical energy of the sacred Andean site. Participants will engage in guided meditations, rune readings, and nature-based rituals to connect deeply with the gods Woden and Frig, fostering personal growth and spiritual cleansing. Due to the region’s weather conditions, these retreats will be offered between April and August, ensuring the most suitable time for spiritual exploration at this extraordinary location.

Rooted in the Saxon tradition of Seax-Wica, the retreat would integrate ancient Saxon rituals with the natural, mystical energy of the plateau, which is known for its enigmatic stone formations and spiritual significance.

During the retreat, participants would engage in rituals of connection with Woden and Frig, following the Seax-Wica tradition of honoring personal sacrifice and spiritual growth. This retreat would also include guided meditations, rune readings using the extended Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, and nature-based rituals designed to align with the plateau’s energetic centers. The participants would experience deep spiritual cleansing and inner transformation, as the sacred landscape of Markawasi is believed to enhance spiritual awareness, making it the perfect setting for Seax-Wica practices.

For those looking to deepen their connection to the Saxon gods and ancestral wisdom, while exploring the mystical energies of one of Peru’s most spiritual sites, this retreat would offer a unique blend of Saxon magic and Andean mysticism—a journey not only through nature but also through the soul’s deeper mysteries.

Markawasi, located about 90 kilometers east of Lima, Peru, is a mystical plateau known for its enigmatic stone formations and rich history of spiritual and cultural significance. The plateau sits at an altitude of over 4,000 meters and has been a place of fascination for explorers, researchers, and spiritual seekers alike. Many of the stone formations resemble human faces, animals, and mythical creatures, leading to various interpretations regarding their origins. Some believe these structures are natural formations, while others suggest they may have been carved by ancient civilizations or hold connections to lost pre-Incan cultures.

Markawasi first gained attention in the 1950s, when Daniel Ruzo, a Peruvian explorer, proposed that the formations were remnants of a lost Atlantean civilization and that the site held powerful mystical energy. This theory has contributed to the plateau’s reputation as a spiritual and metaphysical center, attracting those interested in energy healing, meditation, and even UFO sightings.

Today, Markawasi is a popular destination for spiritual retreats, where visitors experience the site’s deep connection with nature and the cosmos. The unique combination of stunning landscapes and a palpable sense of mystery makes Markawasi a place of inner exploration and transformation for those seeking a spiritual journey.

To reach Markawasi, you typically start from Lima, Peru. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get there:

  1. Travel to San Pedro de Casta:

    • From Lima, you need to travel to the small town of San Pedro de Casta, the gateway to Markawasi. The journey is approximately 6 hours by car or public transport.
    • You can take a bus or shared van from Chosica (a district outside Lima) to San Pedro de Casta. Buses leave from the central market in Chosica and head toward the town. Public transportation is available but might not run frequently, so it’s advisable to check schedules in advance.
  2. Hiking to Markawasi:

    • Once you reach San Pedro de Casta, you will begin the hike to the Markawasi plateau. The hike typically takes around 3-4 hours, depending on your pace and the path you choose.
    • There are two main routes:
      • A shorter, steeper route that takes about 3 hours.
      • A longer but more gradual route that takes closer to 4 hours.
  3. What to Bring:

    • Markawasi is at a high altitude, so it’s essential to bring warm clothing, sufficient water, and snacks. The climate can be unpredictable, with cold nights and occasional rain. Also, ensure you are prepared for a strenuous hike due to the elevation.

Once you arrive, you can explore the stone formations, enjoy the breathtaking views, and camp overnight if desired.

A retreat to Markawasi lasts for three days and two nights, offering a blend of relaxation, spiritual practices, and immersion in nature.

Day 1:

Depart of Lima city on 6 am to arrival at Markawasi is expected around 3 pm, where participants enjoy a light lunch and rest to acclimatize to the altitude. In the late afternoon, you can experience the stunning sunset and the unique cloud blanket that covers the western horizon. As night falls, you’ll gather around the campfire, enjoy warm soups and meals offered by local women, and gaze at the stars. Nighttime activities include divination, meditation, and the beginning of the retreat’s spiritual devotions.

Day 2:

The morning begins with a hike from 9 am to 1 pm across the plateau to the site known as Fortaleza. After returning for lunch, the afternoon includes a visit to the Monument to Humanity and nearby ruins until around 4 pm. The evening culminates with preparations for esbat rituals, where participants make offerings to the gods, followed by the Cake & Ale ceremony.

Day 3:

On the final day, the campsite is dismantled, and the group descends to San Pedro de Casta by 10 am, where a light lunch is enjoyed before the return journey. Travelers reach Chosica around 5 pm and Lima by 8 pm.

Retreats are typically scheduled from Friday to Sunday, with costs covering the guide, firewood, and the Seax-Wica experience, while participants need to provide their own transport, food, tickets and high-altitude camping gear.
